Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. Romans 11:17

Within the words we say, there are nyms. There are synonyms, words meaning the same; antonyms, two opposite words; homonyms, two words sounding the same but with a different meaning and one referring to letters, the acronym, each letter representing a word. In the next couple days, let us look at a few examples of acronyms. Today’s writing focuses on a prized possession, faith.

“F”: When I accepted the Lord, over 40 years ago, I discovered a new sense of “faith” from two men who led me in this direction. I couldn’t wait to spread this new “faith” to others. I am blessed to have “faith” and without it, I would be one lost soul.

The letter “a” represents one. I cannot be more thankful to have a God in my life who loves me and keeps me safe. I often reflect on one couple who meant so much, a loving pair of parents. Now, in later life, I rediscovered a love of my life and so much more, a wife who means so much as each day passes. Are we celebrating our “a” with a Lord and others?

“i” refers to initial. God loved us before we were born. What a sense of initial love before we actually entered the world! In Hebrews, we read of the (initial) author of our faith.

“t” is thankful. Do not be thankful on Thanksgiving but every day. As the Psalmist writes, “. . . give thanks to Him and praise His name.”

“h” represents holy. We read and know so much of this word but it is best stated in Revelation 4:8, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”

Prayer: Lead me, God, to know it is the faith you have given me which sustains me in all I do and say. Amen.
