JANUARY 28TH DEVOTIONAL

If you obey the Lord your God and keep His commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with your soul. Deuteronomy 30:10

Yesterday, we took apart the word faith letter by letter. We all know this is essential in our world today with all that is going on. It is fortunate to have a Savior who loves us and surrounds us with His grace. Besides faith though, there is another ingredient necessary in our daily lives. It is a Book. No, I didn’t make an error in capitalizing Book. We need the Book and not one written by a fiction author or mystery writer. Instead, we should know the contents of these pages.

B represents the only true words available to every individual. These thoughts and phrases are contained in the Bible. True, it is a lengthy composition but it makes sense. There are many authors though each one is blessed to have the presence of God. There are 66 books, one sided in that one section has 12 more than the other. However, I feel this is necessary as we need to be reminded of the lessons endured by the ancient Israelites. Find a Bible with a reading plan for a year and you will be enriched as I have with several versions.

O signifies only. There are probably quite a few books in your bookcases but how many make sense like this one. It is written in an understandable language even there are words difficult to pronounce. However, it should be the only book in your possession which you can believe every word. Remember, there is a Editor in Chief and He is the One who guides you thru what is necessary for reading.

The second O is one. The Bible is the world’s number one best seller. How is it that it holds this distinction and yet is found on dusty shelves? It is puzzling but as you have one God, remember you should also need to have One Book.

It may seem unusual that K is for King. We do have a leader in our country but who is the real King in our lives? Our Lord is the “King of the nations” as revealed in Revelation. Psalms 10:16a notes “The Lord is King for ever and ever.” Is He yours?

Prayer: Help us, o Lord, to look to the Book daily and not simply on Sunday. Amen
