FEBRUARY 10TH DEVOTIONAL

February 10, 2016

I will restore your leaders as in days of old, your rulers as at the beginning. Afterward you will be called the City of Righteousness, the Faithful City.

 Isaiah 1:26

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the noted verse could be a reality? I have said to several people the Founding Fathers of our nation would be astonished if they were to come back today and live in our society! What has happened is beyond belief. It seems like there is no God. Commandments and other theories have been pushed out of existence. The Lord is not happy. A Christian runs for office and regretfully cannot gain support behind him. Instead, allegiance is made to characters who have no solid belief in God. What can we do?

The most obvious answer is prayer. This wonderful possession of ours can be the nation’s if we would spread the two types of word. First, we can tell others about the wonderful attitude of prayer and how we use it within our own lives. Second, not only be an informant of words thru prayer but be one of The Word. Notice the capital letters because it is important. Can you imagine what this nation would be like if we heeded 100% of the Bible? We, as a country, are looked up to because of size which leads other nations to believe we are powerful. Perhaps, this is an accurate statement in some ways but in terms of religion, we are weak. It is necessary to follow the words written in Ezra 7:23: “Whatever the God of heaven has prescribed, let it be done with diligence for the temple of the God of heaven.”

Within the content of Psalm 85, there are verses we should adhere to. “Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us, “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in You? And “Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.” Starting today, Lent begins as it is Ash Wednesday. Lent is a time of self examination. Let’s look at ourselves and see how we can transform this nation to its beginnings as one enormous group of people under God. Hint: One way may be: Be in attendance in Trenton or Albany later this year to hear a religious leader who changed his life for the better and bring someone who needs the Lord.

Prayer: “Restore us, o God; make Your face shine upon us” and lead us to a constant yearning for Him. Amen.
